Squirrels

I have worked out what has been eating the nuts from the bird-feeder (we have never seen a bird near it). This chap has made off with most of the nuts in the feeder over the last few days but he hasn't yet worked out how to reach the seeds on the other side.

This cartoon, drawn by a guy called Matt Bors (link) gave me a giggle.

Power Usage

The BBC website has an Electricity Planner where you can fiddle with the number of new power stations and assess the impact it would have. I've solved our carbon dioxide problem using this tool by building 31 nuclear reactors and 4,655 wind turbines, delivering clean, green power for only a modest annual increase in costs.

Maybe Gordon should take a look.

Garden

Several days of heavy rain, including a few very heavy showers and some hail, have left our garden looking fairly forlorn with water standing on the lawn and mud everywhere. Maybe next year we'll be able to grow a nice green lawn, but I doubt it.

Labour Corruption

As every day brings fresh allegations in the party donation scandal, Gordon Brown's premiership descends ever further into sleaze and corruption, the very things New Labour promised to sweep away when they came to power in 1997. There's been no suggestion (so far) that individuals have gained personally (everything has gone to the party) but the level of dishonesty and alleged criminal activity is damning; it can only be a matter of time before a senior politician is shown to have accepted illegal funds to their campaign and is forced to resign.
